Highland Farm became an official non-profit organization with the ratification of the 'William E. Deters Foundation for Gibbon & Wildlife Conservation Projects' on June 16, 2003. Bill's wife Pharanee established the foundation to honor her late husband who passed suddenly in May 2002.
Highland Farm operates entirely on private funds and donations and is not part of any wildlife organization or NGO.
As a registered foundation you can donate and help support Highland Farm's many residents and support Bill's legacy and dream of a better world for all creatures.

“All gibbons are endangered, largely due to deforestation. They are also hunted and trapped for the pet trade.” —National Zoo, U.S.A.
The life span of a gibbon in the wild is 25 to 30 years and can be as long as 45 years in captivity. Care for these creatures is a lifetime commitment.
Gibbons are arboreal; they spend most of their lives in trees. Because they are so dextrous while moving in the trees, almost no predators can catch them.
There are nine species of gibbons, including the siamang, which is the largest and darkest gibbon.
